Infrared lighting is usually required to capture license plate detail at night. The reflective coating on license plates allows infrared lighting to illuminate license plate detail. Mobotix IP camera equipped with dark filter screens out most visible light from headlights.
2 models available are:
- MX-M12-SEC-N43 LPF (45 degree viewing angle)
- MX-M12-SEC-N15 LPF (15 degree viewing angle)
These dual lens cameras are equipped with black and white image sensors.
One of the sensors has an infrared cut filter that filters out light below 680nm such as most of the light from the headlights of a vehicle (headlights do contain some infrared light).
The other sensor is a standard black and white sensor for delivering overall image detail (the big picture)
An additional infrared lighting device is usually required to illuminate the license plate detail at night.
Above photo is an example of image from a Mobotix MX-M12-SEC-N15 LPF, dual lens megapixel IP camera with the addition of Raytec infrared lighting.
